The IMF welcomed the United States' support for Argentina.

The director of the International Monetary Fund ( IMF ), Kristalina Georgieva , celebrated the support of the United States Secretary of the Treasury, Scott Bessent , to Argentina . Through her X account, the executive highlighted the US support in response to President Javier Milei 's request for a new loan to avoid further jumps in the foreign exchange market.
"We welcome @SecScottBessent's statement of support for Argentina. This underscores the crucial role of partners in promoting sound stabilization and growth policies for the benefit of the Argentine people," Georgieva said on her X account, quoting the US executive's tweet.
In response, Economy Minister Luis Caputo cited the publication and responded: "Thank you, Kristalina, for your continued support, and that of the entire IMF team," the Minister of Finance wrote in the same media outlet.
In a series of posts on the X network, Bessent announced that they will collaborate with Argentina and specified that "all options for stabilization are on the table," among which he mentioned possible swap lines, direct purchases of foreign currency, and the acquisition of sovereign debt in dollars through the Treasury's Exchange Stabilization Fund.
The official insisted that the US commitment is linked to the region's macroeconomic stability and Argentina's importance as a strategic partner. In another segment of his messages, the Treasury Secretary emphasized that opportunities for private investment "remain ample" and asserted that " Argentina will be great again ."
Finally, he also reaffirmed his confidence in Milei's agenda of fiscal discipline and pro-growth reforms , which he described as "necessary to break the country's long history of decline." Thus, Argentina is preparing to receive a new loan after receiving the approval of the IMF and the green light from the United States and Donald Trump.
