Dollar price today: How it trades against the Mexican peso on September 22

The Mexican peso began the week with losses, after the dollar registered a correction following the 25 basis point cut applied by the United States Federal Reserve (Fed). During the first minutes of the day, the exchange rate stood at 18.41 pesos per unit, which represents a 0.28% drop for the Mexican currency compared to the previous 7 days, according to data from Investing.
According to Gabriela Siller Pagaza, director of Economic Analysis at Grupo Financiero BASE, the dollar's rally is occurring despite the Fed considering additional rate cuts of up to 50 basis points before the end of 2025. Historically, September has been a month in which the dollar strengthens, while the peso tends to depreciate.
The performance of the exchange rate in the coming days will be influenced by:

- The publication of the Global Economic Activity Indicator for July (Tuesday 23).
- Consumer inflation data for the first half of September (Wednesday 24th).
