Berlin: Cyberattack on the capital portal

Berlin. The state of Berlin's capital city portal has been the target of a comprehensive cyberattack since Friday evening, according to the Senate Chancellery. "All areas of berlin.de and the service portal service.berlin.de have been partially accessible since then."
The current cyberattack is taking the form of an overload attack, in which a large number of requests are intended to cause the servers to crash. "There has been no data leakage since the cyberattack began." It remains unclear who is behind the cyberattack.

The capital city portal provides information on events, offices and authorities, cultural offerings, accommodation options and tourist information, among other things.
A similar cyberattack had already occurred at the beginning of April 2023. At that time, unknown perpetrators flooded the service portal with requests as part of a so-called DDoS attack, deliberately overloading the servers. The cyberattack was part of a nationwide attack.
