Annual figures: Fewer orders and sales in construction

Business in the construction industry stagnated last year. In one sector in particular, significantly fewer orders were received than in the previous year.
The German construction industry did less business last year than a year earlier. Adjusted for price changes, orders received and sales fell short of the 2023 figures, according to the Federal Statistical Office. Nominally, the value of orders received rose by 1.1 percent to 103.5 billion euros. However, this includes price increases. Without these, the value of the order was 0.7 percent lower than in the same year. Building construction performed much weaker than civil engineering. The industry's nominal revenues reached a new high of 114.8 billion euros, which is 0.8 percent higher than the previous year. Adjusted for price increases, however, there was also a real decline here - by 1.0 percent. The statistics only include companies with at least 20 employees.
